Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network (GM AHSN) is looking to recruit a Strategic Procurement Project Manager to support the delivery of the Wealth and Industry program by increasing adoption of ‘approved’ innovations and increasing expenditure with SMEs in Greater Manchester.

The successful applicant ideally will have extensive experience of the NHS procurement landscape, either from an NHS or a company background and a track record of successful project management, ideally including change management.

The appointed candidate will be responsible for the delivery of a number of strategically important projects to time and budget and ensuring the effective use of external contractors and other resources. The successful delivery of these projects will be of benefit to patients and the whole health system in terms of outcome and value for money. Candidates should have experience of engaging with stakeholders at all levels and leveraging relationships to deliver tangible results.

Increasing adoption of approved innovations will initially focus on three distinct, specific technology areas:

  • Orthopaedic services
  • GM specific SME technologies
  • Overseas technology adoption in GM

Increasing expenditure with SMEs in Greater Manchester will focus on developing a “procurement collaborative” to increase NHS expenditure with GM SMEs and to assist in the mobilisation of the SME Procurement Collaborative project.

A recent detailed analysis indicates that £65m of GM AHSN provider spend is with SMEs based in the Greater Manchester area, East Cheshire and East Lancashire footprint.
